Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is the most common inherited metabolic disease causing lifelong elevated serum cholesterol levels. Despite affecting over 10 million individuals worldwide, most carriers are either under treated or mistreated and thus suffer from preventable coronary heart disease. This app will help the individuals learn about FH and the clinicians diagnose their patients. Once diagnosed and treated, the individuals with FH have the same risk of cardiovascular disease as the general population after 10 years of treatment.
The application is sponsored by the Hellenic Atherosclerosis Society (HAS). HAS is a Hellenic non-profit scientific organization which promotes research and education in the field of atherosclerosis and help all its members evolve their scientific knowledge and skills. The official journal of HAS is the Hellenic Journal of Atherosclerosis (www.atherosclerosis.gr).
